Preliminary Design Study

Preliminary Design Study

JDBG’s Preliminary Design Study provides a comprehensive assessment of the myriad of factors that impact cost for complex projects such as additions and whole house renovations (architecture and interior design, structural requirements, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, environmental issues, zoning restrictions, etc.). The study allows us to clarify scope, identify opportunities and constraints, develop conceptual designs and provide a refined budget estimate. The next step is to move into the design-build contract with schematic design complete and design development well underway.

The Preliminary Design Study includes the following:

  • In-depth consultation with JDBG design-build team
  • Field survey of existing conditions
  • As-built drawings
  • Zoning analysis (where applicable)
  • Conceptual designs & layout options
  • 3-D massing & visualization
  • Inspiration board & preliminary palette
  • Feasibility assessment by specialty trades
  • Comprehensive Budget Estimate (Low-High-Average)
