How-We-Do-It

Attentive Design and Meticulous Construction go Hand in Hand at JDBG

 How We Do It

Initial Consultation and Budget Development

The first step in the Jordan Design-Build Group process is an on-site meeting to discuss the particulars of your project. We conduct a preliminary walk-through of your existing space and discuss the scope of work, your goals and desires for the space, design-build opportunities and project budget.

For straightforward projects such as kitchen and bathroom remodels, JDBG will Follow up with a written budget estimate and proposal to proceed with the design-build contract. Projects that are more complex such as additions and whole house remodels, may require a more comprehensive assessment of all the parameters to arrive at a realistic budget estimate. For these types of projects, we typically recommend a Preliminary Design Study prior to engaging in a full design-build contract. For more details on this service, click here .

Phase 1A

Design and Pre-Construction

During the design and pre-construction phase, JDBG will collaborate with you to turn your vision into a fully realized design. With your input, our design team will develop and present concept layouts and drawings, mood/inspiration boards and finish and fixture selections. We’ll visit select vendor showrooms (i.e., cabinet, tile, stone, lighting and/or plumbing) and continue to guide you through the design process. At the end of the design phase, our team will present a comprehensive package of design deliverables and final pricing for approval.

For additions and full house remodels, we recommend engaging in a Preliminary Design Study which takes us midway through the design and pre-construction phase. Once the study is completed we are ready to move into final design and construction documentation and final project pricing.

Phase 2

Permits and Material Acquisition

As required, JDBG will prepare and process all local and/or state government permits necessary to begin construction. During this phase, JDBG will begin acquiring all of the materials required for your project, prepare a jobsite binder and coordinate with trades and subs. We will also provide you with a detailed construction schedule so that you know what to expect during build-out. Our meticulous planning, attention to detail and adherence to a schedule make the construction process more efficient and less stressful for you.

Phase 3

Construction

With permits and materials in hand, construction begins! JDBG will manage and supervise all aspects of the build-out, from demolition to final punch list, and keep you fully informed of the day-to-day progress. Depending on project scope and timing, we use a combination of trusted subcontractors, vendors, field technicians and trades to execute the construction under our close supervision. We take great pride in the quality of workmanship, the cleanliness of our jobsites and our ability to manage the delivery of projects efficiently and on schedule.

Phase 4B

Acceptance and Turnover

At the end of construction, JDBG will walk you through the entire finished project, review equipment and owner’s manuals, discuss specialty care instructions and warranties, address final punch list items and perform a final clean. The new space is now yours to enjoy for years to come!

The final result is a project that meets or exceeds your expectations.

Singular Responsibility

Jordan Design-Build Group is singularly responsible for all aspects of your home renovation project from inception through final construction. Our unified design-build team is fully engaged throughout the remodeling process, managing workflow and overseeing every detail to ensure quality execution and adherence to your project budget and timeline. Should any issues or concerns arise, JDBG is highly communicative, exceedingly responsive and ultimately accountable.

JDBG’s Summer Design+Build Interns

Federico Build Intern 2022

JDBG recently said farewell to our summer build intern, Federico, who returned to Virginia Tech to continue his engineering studies (Go Hokies!). Federico was an enthusiastic and valued member of the JDBG team for 3 months, performing a variety of tasks on our remodeling projects including light construction, delivering/organizing supplies, maintaining the jobsite, landscaping, as well as some general heavy lifting. His favorite assignment was landscaping work on a property in Clifton that’s being developed for a JDBG custom home… stay tuned for more on that.

Nate Build Intern 2021

JDBG's Summer Intern at work

Nate has spent the past two summers with JDBG, learning the ins and outs of residential remodeling. Whether it was making sure our company vans were fully stocked with essentials of the trade or assisting with the installation of a deck, he was up to every task! Nate looks forward to applying his experience when he enters an engineering program in college next year. With his strong work ethic, wide-ranging skillset, and positive attitude, Nate has a very bright future ahead!

Rebecca Design Intern 2020

Rebecca Headshot

Rebecca is an Interior Design Major at Virginia Tech and brought both a fresh perspective and an infectious positivity to JDBG. From creating eye-popping 3D renderings to taking meticulous notes during client meetings, she’s been an integral design team member. Her favorite part of the entire experience was right at the end, “looking back and seeing how much progress has been made on the projects I’ve been involved with. It’s been exciting to see them transition from design into the build phase.” Rebecca has a bright future in the world of residential design – we’re very excited to see where her talents take her!

Henry Build Intern 2020

Henry Headshot

Henry is a senior at Virginia Tech where he majors in Nanoscience with a minor in Leadership, Business, & Naval Science. He was an integral member of our build team and contributed at every level from demolition to project management. We welcomed his hard work ethic and leadership skills on the job site. While Henry found working for JDBG was a great experience overall, the most rewarding aspect of his internship came in “learning how to effectively communicate with both subcontractors and customers alike”. We wish Henry all the best in his final year of school and his future as a pilot in the Navy.
